Forgotten Highway Trip
6 of us had a wonderful weekend. We travelled down from Auckland to Taumaranui on Friday and after catching up and partaking of some liquid refreshments we all walked next door to the RSA where we had a lovely meal and chat. 7.45am next morning we met and walked to the Forgotten Highway office and started our days trip.
http://www.forgottenworldadventures.co.nz 4 golf buggies with seating 4 in each, attached to the rail tracks, zip down sides for if it got colder and we were on our way. Winding through the hills, stopping for morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, to move mum sheep and twins off the tracks, watch the ferret race up the hill, move the 2 hurdling steers away, have a walk over the viaducts and check out the inside of one of the 20 tunnels we went through. On arrival at the Whagamomona pub we had a voucher for a drink which we enjoyed then a chat before boarding our shuttle to take us home. |

This time though they had entertainment. http://emeraldbrothers.co.nz/
They were excellent and we had a blast dancing till nearly closing time. Robyn and Ken had to head home at 6am Sunday morning, Christine, Keith and Rosemary were lazy and watched the game in their rooms and the rest of us went to breakfast and watch the game at the RSA yet again. Excellent game !!!!!.
3 of us went to pay a visit to our club founders Colin and Margaret Tattersall who live down there and have now retired. It was a lovely catch up and after eating even more home baking we slowly made our way home.
Lovely weekend and thanks to Pat for finding the place and checking it all out for us.
