Sunday run 2nd Dec 2018Merry Christmas.
Yesterday (2nd Dec) we had a really lovely lunch at 5 Stags in Whitford. Carol, Andrew, Rose, Ron, Ken, Jude, Lubo (Joined this morning) Gary, Lynn and myself all met in Parnell. At 11am we headed out with 5 lovely little Z's in a row with the big Mama Porsche pushing from the back to keep any stragglers in line :) A stunning day with the roof down, cruising Mission Bay, St Helliers, Glendowie, Point England, past some areas I don't think I had even been to before. Along the Pakaranga highway Dianne & Peter joined on to the convoy. Onward along Cascades Rd and along the windy stretch leading down to Whitford arriving exactly on time. Waiting for us were Pat, Cam, Chris, Janet, Stephen, Greg, Brian, Desre, Christine, Keith, Jodie & Raph. The venue was a beautiful villa style building with a long verandah along a couple of sides. Nice friendly, helpful staff also. 2 large tables were set up for us and we sat and relaxed and enjoyed our mains with a lot of catching up and chatter. After the mains were cleared it was time for Santa to be acknowledged. Everyone had to choose a number from the bag Pat took round. Then all 23 presents were laid out (all numbered) and handed to the lucky people. Some gifts I think Santa was having fun with and some were really nice. I think Santa was making fun of me giving me a square of nutty fudge knowing I hate nuts. Then I asked the person who received the gift of "GROW YOUR OWN WILLY" to stand which Brian tried to avoid doing. As a further punishment he had to wear a stunning shocking pink nylon wig while having his desert. (Photos attached). The item concerned was placed in a glass of water and watched enthusiastically (particularly by Pat for some reason) (again photo attached) and the staff loved it so much they kept it to go on the bar :) A lovely day, and thank you to everyone for the amazing car I was given and the many many kind words in it. Thank you also to Pat for her help during the year. Hopefully next year will be much more active after we now have all our joints fixed now :) |
