Helensville run. Shelly Beach, March 22nd 2015
A wonderful day today. Definitely became a topless style of day for all of us. We had a great (although rather slow run with an OAP driving in the middle of the road at a very slow 42km for several km's) run out to Shelly Beach. I had never been there but would certainly recommend it for a Sunday drive and the cafe/restaurant there were very busy with all the customers. Coffee excellent. Make sure its high tide for a more pleasant view though and the fishing is very good I am told.
After a sit in the sun, coffee and chat we headed back on the old north road to Hallertau Restaurant. It was packed with people so very glad we had a booking. For $33 I felt it was an excellent meal. We had platters put on the tables with a vast assortment of fingers foods and then you ordered your main from about 6 choices and I didn't hear one complaint. Meanwhile you could have a "tasting tray" of their own beers to try if you wanted to experiment.
Live music was happening in the main pump room bar which was very nice.
Kevan led the way and even though it was his first run and we scared him a little, he did an excellent job. Grant, Christine, Keith, Trish, Brigid, Milton, Gary, Lynn, Gol, Chris, Myles, Sam, Michael, Rose, Ron, Brian, Desre, Igor, Laura and myself all enjoyed our selves. Special thanks to our waiter Ewan also. He was wonderful.
