Saturday July 26th run to Matakana
9.15am 21 people met at the BP Connect Dairy Flat with a hopeful look at the sky and fingers crossed the rain would stay away.
John & Tina, Chris & Janet, John & Vicky, Desre & Bryan, Robyn & Ken, Mark, Carol & Andrew, Louise, Pauline, and newbies Ann & Dave and Gary and Lynn all headed out towards Warkworth in brilliant sunshine.
We stopped in Warkworth at Chocolate Brown and sampled several of their chocolates and indulged ourselves a little with movie night supplies.
Then onto Matakana Markets. Everyone was out there today because of the sunshine and plenty of stalls to visit. I rang through all the meal orders to Mahurangi River Winery so we could all eat together and watched everyone relaxing in the sun.
Several enjoyed the market so much they never managed the run a couple of us made out to Goat Island (glorious in the sun) and we eventually all met up again at the Winery for our lunch. Christine and Keith caught up with us then in time for lunch. Mark decided to take the Goat Island run a bit late as we passed him starting out as we were nearly back ,, not surprising though men always are a bit slower than us females :)
Lunch was lovely and from the cases of their wine some bought it was well liked also.
As lunch lingered quite late only a couple of us met at Puhoi pub on the way home to eye up the bikes and indulge in a shandy .
Finally got home around 4.30pm and it had been a lovely day. Lots for the regulars to catch up with and lots to introduce the newbies to.
Some photos of today.
