15th October 2016 Rotorua/Taupo weekend
We departed from a cool and damp Auckland at 9am and followed the sun to TiRau for brunch. Ken and Robyn leading this small group of zoggers (they arranged the weekend) and Rose, Ron, Keith, Christine and myself followed.
Next stop was Wairaki Thermal Village near Taupo. Luxurious natural hot springs which were just perfect as the sun was out but it was cool.
After a coffee stop we went on to check a local sitting hole where a cold stream meets a hot one and people sit where they want in the stream dependant on the amount of heat they like. Lovely setting beneath a small bridge. Then on to the VA Rotorua Lake Resort for the night. Champagne in the rooms and then a lovely dinner in the main dining room.
This morning after a leisurely breakfast we went to Redwoods Treewalk Rotorua and walked 12 metres above the forest floor across 21 suspension bridges for half a kilometer. Again we had the sun shine for us. Home around 3.30pm and a relax after a perfect weekend. Thanks Robyn and Ken.
