Wellington Inaugural Run
Wellington achieved a wonderful turnout for the inaugural Z run on Sunday, 4 November 2007. The Z3s – 1900cc, 2 litre and two 2.8 litre – their drivers and passengers met at Upper Hutt for a drive over to the Wairarapa. Considering the wet weather, this was an excellent turnout. The power of positive thinking worked well and it was fine by the time we arrived in Carterton.
We chatted over lunch and got to know each other, swapped anecdotes and enjoyed the convivial company. We had the upstairs room at the Wild Oats Café mostly to ourselves – all the car talk probably kept the other diners downstairs. We lingered over our lunch and then spilled out onto the street, where with hoods down we held the obligatory photo shoot. After that there was a short drive – just across the road really – to the town square which made a nice backdrop for more photos of the black, two shades of blue and silver Z3s.
We bid farewell to each other, vowing to do meet again soon, and then set off for home, with a stop in Featherston to put the hoods up as it looked like rain in the Rimutakas. All in all it was a lovely day out, great fun meeting other Z3 owners, and we’re looking forward to more drives in the company of ZOG members.
